PUTTING CRICKET BACK

INTO LONDON’S PARKS

Supported by

By installing new cricket facilities across the capital we are providing more and more people with the opportunity to get active and play cricket.

New cricket facilities courtesy of the London Cricket Trust have been installed across London since 2018

The work isn’t done yet…

plans are underway for a further 18 new cricket facilities AT Ten Sites to be installed by the end of 2024

Non-turf pitches
have a range of benefits that improve performance and increase participation:

They offer a consistent performance that a natural turf pitch cannot guarantee, allowing bowlers and batsman to develop their technique

A poorly maintained or tired grass pitch can be dangerous and detrimental to the development of young cricketers

More cricket can be played throughout the season… Pre-season can start earlier in the year when natural wickets will not be fit to play on and there is less chance of games being cancelled in poor weather conditions

Minimal maintenance is required and very little preparation is needed before matches.

An NTP can last up to and beyond 10 years if it is well looked after with minimal costs associated with it.

HOW WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Cricket pitches nets London facilities

INSTALL FACILITIES

LCT is working with the ECB and
the four counties to reverse the decline in the number of cricket facilities in London’s parks, and will have facilitated the installation of more than 100 new facilities across the capital between 2018 and 2024. These facilities include artificial
turf pitches and net complexes.

Free Cricket equipment kits schools Cricket bat wickets

PROVIDE EQUIPMENT

LCT distributes free cricket starter-kits to schools and clubs located in the vicinity of the new facilities; these kits include everything required to start playing the game, including bats, pads, stumps and balls, and are available. Starter kits are available for adult, intermediary and junior teams.

Cricket coaching clubs competitions

ENCOURAGE ACTIVATION

LCT engages with clubs and schools, inspiring and encouraging coaches to organise informal and formal cricket, offering guidance on forming new clubs and creating new competitions, ensuring regular and measurable participation in the game.
